Sanders is the third pilot of the 8th platoon and a man of few words, but his dark past more than makes up for his lack of expression. Another veteran pilot who has earned the title of mobile suit Ace, Sanders nevertheless carries a history of failure. Every unit which he has ever been in has been destroyed on their third mission, leaving him the sole survivor. His arrival at the Kojima Battalion and the 8th platoon is greeted with with pessimism and more than one scuffle has sprung up between the men of other platoons and the pilot named "Shinigami." Shiro and his new teammates, however, dismiss the charge as nonsense and welcome Sanders fully as a part of their platoon. Impressed with Shiro's leadership, Sanders pledges his unfailing loyalty to the lieutenant.
